Art Gives Back brings together the multi-faceted creativity of the Bay Area. There is a silent auction that includes unique artworks, limited editions, as well as experiences, memberships, books, and other very special packages. There are also activities for people of all ages led by local artists, a series of special performances, DJs, poets, and a selection of food by some of the most innovative chefs. Auction The silent auction will be launched online on January 19th and will be available through February 2nd. At the benefit on January 21st, buyers can bid or use the "buy it now" option onsite or online. Registration and auction support begins at 4pm. The auction items will be displayed in the lounge room, located on the ground floor of the benefit's venue, to the left of the check-in desk. Act fast, the auction items are excellent! Wine Tasting Winemaking neighbors of Minnesota Street Project will be holding a wine tasting in the lounge room where the auction items are displayed. Roar Winery is a working urban winery two doors from Minnesota Street Project and features a number of award-winning Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah and other wines made by Roar and boutique winemakers also working in the winery. Neighboring winemakers will be on hand to pour tastes of wines from Waits-Mast, Flywheel and Roar wineries, featuring wines from Mendocino and Monterey Counties. Waits-Mast has also put together an exclusive selection of wines for the silent auction. Collaborative Drawing table For a small donation, people of all ages are welcome to join and contribute to an ongoing drawing pool, collaboratively created by several guest artists and the general public. You can start a new drawing or add your touch to one in progress from the table. You can draw, paint, doodle, add some collage or frottage twists, or, simply, sketch anything that comes to your mind. The only rule is to put your contribution back to the collective box on the table and don't take any drawing with you until the end of the activity. Are supplies are donated by ARCH Art Supplies and Yellow Owl Workshop. The Collaborative Drawing Table runs 4-5:30pm and is coordinated by Vanessa Blaikie and several artist volunteers. Performances A dynamic and diverse program of performances, offered by performance artists and poets from the Bay Area, will be presented throughout the benefit event. From 4-5:30pm, Justin Charles Hoover presents a selection of short performances (4-10 minutes long) by Baby Barbelrella, Shaghayegh Cyrous, Featherpistol, Mariana Sobral, Brian & Vita Hewitt, and Alex Nichols & Mushi. From 5-6pm Art Gives Back will also include a sound performance by Guillermo Galindo, and a special performance presented by The Anna Halprin Performance Lab with performers Adrian Arias, Brian Collentine, Amy Cranch, Darcie Luce, Sherri Mills, Michael Nugent, Ryan Elizabeth Reid, and Kristi Williamson. Poetry Performances by poets Tongo Eisen-Martin and James Cagney from 6-6:30pm. Karaoke The Grand Finale is a collective Karaoke, where, for a small donation, you can sing your favorite songs in front of many friends and, also, in front of many strangers. Either way, it's a celebration for this meaningful cause. The karaoke station runs 6:30-8pm and will be coordinated by Lindsey White. Food Vendors We're thrilled to be partnering with Humphry Slocombe, Namu Gaji, Tartine, and Fort Point to offer you a great and varied selection of food and drink options throughout the Art Gives Back benefit event. The food component of Art Gives Back is organized by Leif Hedendal. The food and drink options will be available from 4pm until 8pm or until they run out! |
